Project Outline and Objective

Outline

Creating society where elder people can maintain their economic activities autonomously with sense of secure, we aim to establish a system to detect a situation requiring intervention by the third party. We consider it will be possible to monitor their personal activities including transaction with financial institutions, with protecting of their personal information. We will also examine legal conditions and systems aiming at making a proposal for policy and new legal system to share that information with public space such as Community General Support Center.

  3. Proposal for legal conditions of personal information protection balancing between protection and autonomy of older people

1. Field survey on economic activities on dementia patients
 We investigate the current status of preparation for suffering from dementia and financial literacy among healthy older people (and the influence of dementia on economic activities through the questionnaire survey and interview with the caregivers of people with dementia.

2. Development of analysis method to detect impaired decision making ability
 We develop the system to detect the deterioration of the ability from the personal transaction data of bank account and/or other customer data.

3. Proposal for legal conditions of personal information protection balancing between protection and autonomy of older people
 We propose the legal conditions of personal information protection to share the information of personal economic activities or account transactions with social networks. Moreover, we contribute to the other projects of ‘Creating a Safe and Secure Living Environment in the Changing Public and Private Spheres’ providing the special knowledge of personal information protection.

4. Policy proposal for developing a new social network
 We estimate economic ripple effects of a new social system based on the research outcome and make a policy recommendation.
